Defragmenting your hard drive reorganizes the files on your hard drive. This helps Windows to run more efficiently and can free up additional space on your drive. This process may run for several minutes to an hour depending on how long its been since last run.
- Press the 'Windows' Key and 'E' to bring up the Windows Explorer.
- Right-click on your hard drive and click 'properties'.
- On the 'Tools' tab, click the 'Defragment Now...' button.
- In the new 'Disk Defragmenter' window, click the 'Defragment' button.
- You will be prompted when the process is complete.
